The General Assembly of Shareholders of Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) on 22 November approved the cessation of mandates of members of the Board of Directors ahead of term and elected a new composition of the Board.
The change came in the context of acquisition of 41.09% of shares by HEIM Partners Limited – an international consortium of investors, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Horizon Capital and AB Invalda INVL.
According to voting results, the following candidates made it to the Board:
- Victor Miculeţ;
- Natalia Vrabie;
- Vasile Tofan;
- Aliona Stratan;
- Vytautas Plunksnis;
- Nicolai Shitov;
- Maryna Kvashnina.
Serghei Cebotari, the Chairman of MAIB Executive Committee, thanked the former Board members, highly appreciating their professionalism. “We enjoyed huge support from Victor Miculeţ, Natalia Vrabie, Valentina Badrajan, Vasile Carauş, Anatolie Ţurcanu, Ion Bostan, Grigore Belostecinic. We went through very difficult stages together. This board backed all policies and the strategy of the bank, due to which today we have great results and managed to solve the issue of shareholders’ transparency,” Serghjei Cebotari said.
For his part, Vasile Tofan, a newly elected member of the Board of Directors, said during the shareholders’ meeting: “As shareholders, we are not here to revolutionize MAIB. We are here to preserve and develop the existing strong basis. We respect very much the professionalism, ethics and integrity of the current management, who drove the bank through a very tense period. Further on, we will make sure that MAIB not only remains the No. 1 bank, but leaves far behind the other banks.”
The new Board is set to increase the capitalization and profitability of the bank, to ensure its organic growth, invest in technologies so as to keep the pace with the IT revolution and contribute to the fulfilment of the bank’s social goal, that is to the development of the country.
