Lead UX/UI
We are seeking an experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to head our design team and shape the user experience of our mobile-first product suite.
In this key role, you will:
- Lead and mentor a team of designers.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Collaborate closely with tech teams to implement design features.
- Drive design strategy to deliver exceptional, cohesive user experiences aligned with our brand and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the UX/UI design team.
- Set clear goals, delegate tasks, and ensure timely project delivery.
- Define design team objectives aligned with company goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
2. Design Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement a unified design strategy across all mobile platforms.
- Establish design guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
- Oversee the end-to-end design process: user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and usability testing.
- Ensure designs meet usability standards and provide exceptional mobile user experiences.
3. Mobile-First Product Design
- Lead the design of mobile-first products, ensuring optimal user experience on iOS and Android platforms.
- Apply mobile-first design principles and best practices.
- Create designs that work seamlessly across various mobile devices and screen sizes.
- Implement touch and gesture-based interactions.
- Design micro-interactions and animations to enhance user engagement.
4. Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage external design vendors and agencies.
- Negotiate contracts, budgets, and timelines.
- Ensure vendor deliverables meet our brand, quality, and design standards.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve design execution issues.
5. Technical Collaboration
- Collaborate with product managers to understand user needs and business objectives.
- Work closely with engineering teams to implement design features effectively.
- Provide detailed design specifications and assets to developers.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback during development.
- Ensure designs are technically feasible and optimized for performance on mobile devices.
6. User Research and Data-Driven Design
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability tests focused on mobile users.
- Analyze data to understand user behavior and needs.
- Use insights to inform design decisions and iterate on mobile prototypes and interfaces.
7. Compliance and Accessibility
- Ensure all designs comply with financial regulations and industry standards.
- Implement WCAG guidelines to make products accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
8. Innovation and Industry Awareness
- Keep abreast of the latest mobile design trends, tools, and technologies.
- Explore opportunities to integrate new technologies like AR/VR, biometrics, or voice interfaces.
- Promote the importance of UX/UI design within the organization.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years in UX/UI design with a strong focus on mobile products.
- 2+ years in a leadership role managing design teams.
- Experience in fintech or financial services is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage external vendors and negotiate contracts.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and other relevant design tools.
- Proficient in mobile prototyping tools (e.g., Proto.io, Marvel) and user testing methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design.
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and mobile development languages (Swift, Kotlin).
- Familiarity with mobile analytics tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop a design team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present and justify design decisions to stakeholders
- Proven experience working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to design.
