Announcement regarding the change in the interest rate on mortgage loans, granted in MDL

In the context of the publication of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) of 20 June 2023, the benchmark index, used to calculate the maximum effective interest rate for mortgage loans in lei granted to individuals, decreased by 5.80 percentage points to 7.62 percentage points.

Therefore, maib revised the floating rate on the loans granted, in force from July 1, 2023:

  • For loans granted between 01 January 2023 and 01 March 2023, the 7.62 index (published by the NBM) will be applied.
  • For loans granted between 01 March 2023 and 30 June 2023, the discount applied at the time the mortgage was taken out will be maintained.
  • For mortgage loans granted between 17 June 2021 and 30 June 2022, the reference index with a discount of 7 percentage points will be applied;
  • For mortgage loans granted between 1 July 2022 and 31 December 2022, the discounted benchmark of 7.62 percentage points will apply.

Check how much the interest rate will be with a simple calculation:

Interest rate = reference index + bank margin (you can find the value in the contract).
From July 1, 2023, the new loan repayment plan will be available at the branch or in the maibank mobile app.

We remind you that the floating interest rate on loans changes twice a year, on January 1 and July 1, according to the reference index published by the NBM.
