Maib supports the launch of the first documentary on Moldova’s attractions, “Flavours of the Republic of Moldova,” streaming on Netflix from 24 September

The Republic of Moldova enters the map of major international productions with the launch of its first documentary dedicated to its culture, traditions, and tourist attractions on Netflix. “Flavours of the Republic of Moldova”, directed and produced by British filmmaker Charlie Ottley—known for the successful series “Flavours of Romania”—will be available starting 24 September 2025.

In anticipation of the premiere, maib, in partnership with the National Association for Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM), organized a special pre-launch “making of” event. The event highlighted the production process and the people who contributed to crafting Moldova’s visual story.

Giorgi Shagidze, CEO of maib:

"Flavours of the Republic of Moldova is a project that can become the country’s true calling card, sharing the uniqueness of the Republic of Moldova with the world—tourists, potential investors, and the international community. Supporting such initiatives and contributing to strengthening the country’s position on the global tourism and investment map is part of maib’s DNA."

Among the event participants were director Charlie Ottley, officials from the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the cultural sector, entrepreneurs, and local residents featured in the film.

The documentary, structured in three episodes, invites an international audience to discover an authentic country with rich traditions, exceptional wines, breathtaking landscapes, and hospitable people.

Charlie Ottley, Director and Producer of “Flavours of the Republic of Moldova,” said:

"This documentary came to life thanks to partners who came together and contributed to making it possible. It all started last year, when I traveled nearly 25,000 kilometers across Romania, and then crossed the Prut into northern Moldova, from where I zig-zagged across the country to make the production as authentic and beautiful as possible."

Elena Stepanov, Executive Director of ANTRIM stated:

"For us, this project represents more than just a documentary—it is the calling card of the Republic of Moldova, which we present to the world through our wines, gastronomy, experiences, and authentic traditions. We are delighted that together we contribute to building a positive image of our country, increasing its tourism appeal, and positioning Moldova as a sustainable and authentic destination, still largely unexplored."

By supporting this project, maib reaffirms its commitment to investing in the future of Moldova and contributing to strengthening the country’s brand on the international stage. Maib is more than a financial partner—it is a cultural and social partner, actively involved in initiatives that support communities, promote national values, and foster sustainable economic development.

Flavours of the Republic of Moldova is part of maib’s corporate social responsibility portfolio, through which the bank supports art and culture, education—including financial literacy—traditions and national heritage, sports, innovation and fintech, and the environment.
