Maib park - an extraordinary headquarters and project, starting from the name itself

One of the big challenges for the new maib office was finding a name that truly represented the office and the maib team's strategy, purpose and values.

In short, here's what we did.

We started researching
In the first instance, we searched through the archive files for the previous names of the street and region where the office is located, as well as the names of personalities who, over the years, have lived in the area and their life stories that have become part of history. Later on, in the second stage, we researched the history of the "Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt" Public Garden, the species of trees in this park and the description, symbolism of each one. I won't go into much detail, but it was an unexpectedly exciting experience.

At the same time, we encouraged the creativity of the maib team. We announced an internal competition, and in just a few weeks, we collected over 500 unique name proposals from maib employees. Going through the names, we were convinced that we'd got the ball rolling perfectly, with options ranging from business style to musical names, names of personalities and even trees.

Choosing was challenging, so we asked top and middle management to vote from a shortlist of around 50 name options, and the top 10 names with the most votes was discussed and voted at one of the top management meetings.

Why maib park?

After analysing all the options, as well as the results of previous archive research, the vote was in favour of maib park, and these are the arguments:

  1. The maib headquarters is next to the "Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt" Public Garden. From the office's windows, the view of the park enchants and inspires everyone.
  2. The park is also associated with a lot of greenery, a direction that aligns perfectly with the maib strategy.
  3. The bank's business lines are diverse, as are the trees in the park.
  4. The office will also be space for other companies, with whom we will work in the same building, just like in a business park.
  5. Last but not least, we wanted the name of the office to sound equally good in Romanian and English, which is why we opted for the k spelling of the word park.

There's much more to say about this challenging project for anyone in communications and marketing. One thing I know for sure. We are what we leave behind, and I want the name maib park to create beautiful stories, excellent associations and memorable experiences. We, the maib people, will do this.
