Maib and Mastercard – strategic partners of the 8th edition of the Fintech Moldova Conference 2026

Artificial intelligence, digital transformation and the future of financial services were at the heart of discussions at the Fintech Moldova Conference 2026 (FMC26), an event that brought together representatives from the financial, technology and fintech sectors. For the sixth consecutive year, maib and Mastercard were strategic partners of the conference, supporting the dialogue on innovation and solutions that can transform the financial experience.

During the session “Shaping Moldova’s Financial Future”, Macar Stoianov, Deputy Chairman of maib, spoke about the opportunities that can contribute to the development of Moldova’s financial sector.

“The future of the financial sector is not about choosing between technology and people. It is about using technology to better meet people’s needs and to create new opportunities for the economy. Moldova has the chance to accelerate this transformation, and collaboration between financial institutions, technology companies and the fintech community is essential to turning ideas into solutions with a real impact,” said Macar Stoianov, Deputy Chairman of maib.

One of the highlights of the conference was the fireside chat “Ready for AI, Focused on Value”, in which Aliona Stratan, First Deputy Chairwoman of maib, spoke with Ilker Kurtuluș, Director and AI Practice Lead for EEMEA at Mastercard Advisors, about how organisations can turn the potential of artificial intelligence into tangible value for customers and businesses.

“AI has value when it simplifies customers’ lives. We have a wealth of ideas and possibilities, but the priority must be those solutions that address real needs and deliver tangible benefits. At the same time, transformation does not happen through technology alone. We also need to invest in people, providing them with the tools and support they need to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment,” emphasised Aliona Stratan, First Deputy Chairwoman of maib.

Maib places the value that technology brings to customers at the centre of its approach. Technology must simplify interactions with the bank, help people make financial decisions with greater confidence, and deliver tangible benefits in their everyday lives.

The conference serves as a catalyst for collaboration, financial inclusion and higher standards in financial services, strengthening Moldova’s position as an agile and innovative leader in the European fintech ecosystem.

The partnership with FMC26 forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility portfolio, reflecting its commitment to supporting financial education, innovation and the sustainable development of the local digital ecosystem. Through this initiative, maib is actively contributing to strengthening the fintech community and creating opportunities for future generations of innovators and entrepreneurs.
