Announcement regarding the change in the interest rate on auto loans granted in MDL

In the context of the publication of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) of December 19, 2025, the reference index, used to calculate the interest rate for auto loans in MDL granted to individuals, decreased by 0.25 percentage points, from 5.82 percentage points to 5.57 percentage points.

As a result, maib revised the interest rate on active auto loans. The updated interest rate will take effect from January 1, 2026.

To check the new interest rate, use the simple calculation formula: 

Interest rate = reference index + bank margin (the margin can be found in your loan agreement).

From January 9, 2026, the new monthly loan repayment schedule will be available at maib branches and/or in the maibank mobile app.

We remind you that for floating rate loans, the interest rate changes twice a year, on January 1 and July 1, depending on the reference index published by the NBM.
