Euromoney names maib Moldova’s Best Bank and Best Retail Bank for 2026

Maib has been named Moldova’s Best Bank and Moldova’s Best Retail Bank in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026.  The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are one of the most prestigious and recognized awards in the global banking and finance industry. Established over 30 years ago, they benchmark market leadership and celebrate outstanding achievements in banking in over 125 countries.

Maib has been named Moldova’s Best Bank by Euromoney in 2023, 2024 and now in 2026. The bank was also named Best Corporate Bank in 2025 and Best Retail Bank in 2026.

Retail led the way in 2025

Maib’s retail performance in 2025 was driven by continued expansion of its digital channels and deeper penetration across its customer base. The total number of loans granted increased by 38% compared to 2024, with the average share of loans granted through online channels rising by 10 percentage points. The retail loan portfolio grew 39% year on year, supported by strong consumer lending activity, with the consumer loan portfolio by volume up 31%.

Maib tops the market across all segments

Maib held the number one position in Moldova across all key market metrics, with a 35.7% share of total assets, 37.9% of loans, and 36.4% of deposits as of year end 2025. The bank served more than 1.1 million retail clients, 58,000 SME clients, and 720 corporate clients as of end of 2025, with maibank application digital user base surpassing 1 million in June 2026.
