Maib launches international euro payments through SEPA (the Single Euro Payments Area) – Europe’s system for fast and secure transfers. This marks an important step that connects the Republic of Moldova to the European Union’s payment network.
What is SEPA?
SEPA is the Single Euro Payments Area used across all European Union countries and several partner states. Its purpose is to standardize euro transfers, making them as simple and efficient as domestic payments.
Moldova’s accession to SEPA means that money sent to or received from Europe will now move through the same modern payment infrastructure, in full compliance with European standards.
How does it work?
From now on, maib clients – individuals – can send and receive SEPA transfers directly in the maibank app, while business clients can do so through the maib business platform.
Benefits of SEPA:
- euro transfers at lower costs compared to SWIFT
- faster processing of funds
- payments compliant with European standards
For individual clients, SEPA means greater simplicity and speed when sending or receiving money across Europe, directly through maibank.
For companies, it means reduced costs, more efficient international transactions via maib business, and new opportunities to expand their business and strengthen partnerships.
With this launch, maib reaffirms its commitment to providing modern, secure, and accessible digital services – bringing clients closer to innovation and closer to Europe.
