Maib launches the best exchange rate in its portfolio, now available directly in the maibank app

Maib introduces a key innovation for its customers: currency exchange directly within the maibank app is now available at the best exchange rate offered by the bank, more advantageous than at the branch or ATM.

This feature was highly anticipated, because the real difference is not only made by technology or speed, but also, more recently, by the savings brought by the preferential rate, alongside the service's accessibility and convenience.

Currency exchange is done through a dedicated flow within the app. The customer accesses maibank, selects the “Currency Exchange” option from the main page, reviews the displayed information, and confirms the exchange at the preferential rate. The process is fully digital, cash-free, and the final amount is updated in a few seconds. All transactions are automatically recorded in the transaction history.

The preferential exchange rate is available for the most commonly used currencies by maib customers:

• For cards: MDL, EUR, USD
• For accounts: MDL, EUR, USD, GBP, RON, CHF

Currency exchange can be made between any of these currencies, as long as there is a card or account in the desired currency.

To benefit from the preferential rate, it is important that the transaction is initiated from the “Currency Exchange” menu, as other types of operations in maibank are conducted at the standard card and/or transfer rate. It's a small detail, but it makes a difference when you're looking for a good rate.

This functionality is available 24/7, and customers who prefer to work with cash can also benefit: they can top up their card at self-service terminals and then perform the exchange directly in the app at the same preferential rate.
