How do you develop a digital financial product? How is artificial intelligence transforming banking? And what skills will matter for tomorrow’s professionals?
Second-year students on the Finance and Banking programme at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) will explore these questions together with maib professionals as part of the “Digital Financial Services” course this semester.
The programme includes 11 lectures inspired by real-world industry practices: business models and the digital economy, digital transformation and financial services, digital payments and lending, artificial intelligence in banking, the digitisation of SME financing – from concept to launch – and many other current topics.
The first lecture took place on 21 September and was delivered by Sergiu Groza, Head of the Digital Platform Department at maib. Students discovered what digital transformation looks like from the perspective of the people who are building it day by day, and they came with questions, ideas and plenty of curiosity.
Svetlana Bodaci, Director of Human Resources at maib:
“We want students to discover banking through real-life experiences and direct dialogue with the professionals who are transforming the sector. We want them to understand which skills matter, to test their ideas and to see just how diverse the opportunities in banking are. Perhaps, in a few years’ time, some of them will be our colleagues. I would like to thank UTM for the partnership and for yet another joint project through which we are bringing education closer to the skills that the banking of the future will need.”
Rina Țurcan, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Economics and Management, Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business, UTM:
“The collaboration with maib and the involvement of its experts in teaching the ‘Digital Financial Services’ course represent a valuable contribution to the professional training of students on the Finance and Banking programme. UTM particularly appreciates maib’s openness to sharing its expertise and accumulated experience with students. We are convinced that such partnerships strengthen the connection between the university and the business community.”
The maib team firmly believes that such initiatives bring students closer to the reality of the profession they have chosen to pursue and offer them the opportunity to learn directly from the experts who contribute, day by day, to the transformation of banking.
Through ongoing investment in education, hands-on programmes and partnerships with educational institutions, maib helps build the skills that the economy and the financial industry need.
