The skills that matter in the age of AI: Svetlana Bodaci, Human Resources Director at maib, on careers in fintech and the future of work

The courage to get started and the desire to learn can pave the way to a career in IT. This was the focus of the workshop held at ASEM, where, as part of Kood Moldova, maib joined the participants.

During the discussion, Svetlana Bodaci, HR Director at maib, began with a simple question that many of us ask ourselves: “What does a career mean to me?”

Svetlana spoke to the participants about her own experience, the importance of education and the evolution of maib. The bank’s transformation into one of the most highly regarded and digitally advanced in the country was no accident. It was a clear objective, underpinned by a well-thought-out strategy and, above all, by professionals.

Because, no matter how much technology advances and no matter how often we use artificial intelligence, it is the human element that makes the difference.

The discussion continued, focusing on the values that maib appreciates in its people: perseverance, the desire to succeed, curiosity, continuous learning and the ability to communicate and work as a team.

Svetlana’s message to young people was a simple one:

“Completing your studies may open a door for you, but what helps you move forward is the desire to grow and adapt. Technical skills help us use the tools, but soft skills – adaptability and communication – help us make good and sound decisions. At maib, we’re looking for curious people who want to keep developing and who use technology to create simpler solutions for customers. You don’t have to know everything from the start. What matters is that you want to grow.”

Cătălina Plinschi, founder of Kood Moldova, said:

The event continued with a question-and-answer session. The participants’ curiosity turned it into an open dialogue about careers, technology and the future of work.
